DevOps Engineer/Advocate (d/f/m)

Here’s what we’re looking for

As a DevOps Advocate, you support our product development teams in building scalable, high-performing, and sustainable applications. You identify and resolve bottlenecks and disruptions in the software delivery life cycle. You also act as a role model and exemplify agile and DevOps principles. You continue to build out our automation to continuously improve our product delivery. Additionally, you work with services from different cloud providers like Azure, GCP or Ö-Cloud Services and maintain our containerized applications. You design and create Infrastructure-as-Code templates and implement security concepts and policies. As a Coach or Advocate you are able to inspire not only a product team but the whole company for the DevOps philosophy to create a sustainable added value for. You put your expertise to work for a good cause that benefits millions of people in the education industry. You learn together with your team and within your community of practice.

We practice an open communication, are proud of our products, but also do not hide our current weak points:

  • We have a 10+ year old web application and a 35+ year old Windows application, and you will have to manage some remaining legacy issues. A focus is currently on reducing technical debt and accelerating our development, while maintaining quality.
  • We are also developing one of the most successful native mobile application for iOS and Android, in the school organization sector.
  • We have ambitious goals and need your help to achieve them together as a team. In some areas of cooperation, be it communication, processes or structures, we have not yet reached the level where we would like to be, but we are already on a very good path.

Essential skills for your mission

  • First and foremost, we are looking for smart people who enjoy their work and are a pleasure to work with.
  • Knowledge of agile processes and principles as well as practical experience with agile development methods
  • Practical experience with the implementation of software solutions
  • Know-how about complex system landscapes, design patterns and clean code approaches
  • Practical experience in development in enterprise or cloud environments
  • High quality standards in terms of solutions for our product engineering teams and our customers
  • Practical experience with DevOps principles and tools such as CI/CD
  • In-depth knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code, virtualization, configuration management or application monitoring and tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Chef, Ansible or Terraform
  • Strong interest and willingness to experiment with new technologies, practices and new ways of working
  • Good verbal and written communication in German and/or English. We offer additional support in learning the German language.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Interested? Great. For this position we offer a market-oriented salary range between 45,000 Euro and 70,000 Euro gross per year (38.5h/week and no all-in) in our team. Depending on your qualifications and professional experience, you will decide on your salary together with the team.
