Here’s what we’re looking for


As a Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer, you work as part of a cross-functional agile team to build a scalable web, Windows, or mobile application that helps many schools around the world manage their school day. You apply your quality assurance expertise to a good cause that benefits millions of people in the education industry. In addition to creating non-functional & functional test cases, you make the quality of our products visible in the company. You design, implement and control our automation framework. You also perform technical failure analysis and work and optimize our test environments. You generate test data for sustainable test goals using appropriate tools. You learn together with your team and within your Community of Practice.


You would be part of a product engineering team, the QA community and the Untis community. On a daily basis you would desing and implement automated test cases with existing frameworks, design and run manual UI and API tests, report and track defects, execute regression tests, and advocate quality.


We practice an open communication, are proud of our products, but also do not hide our current weak points. Here are a few points you should know about us:

  • We have a 10+ year old web application and a 35+ year old Windows application, and you will have to manage some remaining legacy issues. A focus is currently on reducing technical debt and accelerating our development, while maintaining quality.
  • We are also developing one of the most successful native mobile application for iOS and Android, in the school organization sector.
  • We have ambitious goals and need your help to achieve them together as a team. In some areas of cooperation, be it communication, processes or structures, we have not yet reached the level where we would like to be, but we are already on a very good path.

Essential skills for your mission

  • First and foremost, we are looking for smart people who enjoy their work and are a pleasure to work with.
  • Knowledge of agile processes and principles as well as practical experience with agile testing methods with focus on Kanban.
  • Experience with test concepts and methodologies and experience.
  • Practical experience with implementing and maintaing automation solutions in a Java framework.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Work autonomously and proactively both with the product team and the internal QA community.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills in English and German and good collaboration in cross-functional product team and Community of Practice. We offer additional support in learning the German language.
  • Willingness to travel to the office occasionally for team days and company events.


Bonus skills

Knowledge with the following methodologies, technologies and tools is an advantage:

  • Hands-on experience with common test automation tools (e.g. Selenium WebDriver, Ranorex, Appium, Postman)
  • Basic Know-how with Java, SQL, RESTful API, OpenAPI
  • GitLab, Jira, Xray, Gherkin syntax
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery concepts


Interested? Great. For this position we offer a market-oriented salary range between 50,000 Euro and 70,000 Euro gross per year (38.5h/week and no all-in). Depending on your qualifications and professional experience, you will decide on your salary together with the team.
